Vizianagaram is the main city and district headquarters of the Vizianagaram district of the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. An important centre for commerce and education, the city is located 18 km inland from the Bay of Bengal and 42 km to the northeast of Visakhapatnam. Vizianagaram translates to the "city of victory" and is also given the nickname of the "city of education" and also called as "Vidyala nagaram". One of the fastest-growing towns in Andhra Pradesh.
